With the delivery, Aeromexico also becomes the first airline in the Americas to receive Boeing's Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). The airline will take a second 777-200ER in April.

The delivery ceremony at Paine Field was attended by Gregoire; Mexican Consul General Jorge Madrazo; Aeromexico CEO Dr. Andres Conesa; Boeing Commercial Airplanes Vice President and General Manager, Airplane Programs, Mike Cave; ILFC Chairman and CEO Steve Udvar-Hazy; GE General Manager of Sales, Americas, Kevin McAllister; and members of the Washington state legislature and senior Mexican community and business leaders.

LONG BEACH, Calif. , Feb. 08, 2006 -- The final Boeing [NYSE: BA] 717 began production this week on the moving assembly line in Long Beach, Calif. This milestone marks the final phase of assembly before the airplane delivers to airline customer AirTran Airways in May.

The airplane is the 156th 717 produced by Boeing. The 717 program helped shape Boeing business practices through its supplier partnerships and applying principles of lean manufacturing.

"We challenged the traditional way of thinking and operating to create a great airplane at a reasonable cost," said Pat McKenna, vice president and general manager of the 717 program. "From its concept to production, this airplane has been a team effort that benefits the world's airlines and passengers."

Developed by McDonnell Douglas as the MD-95 and renamed the 717 after the merger with Boeing in 1997, the 100-seat airplane will provide excellent economics, performance and reliability to the world's airlines for years to come.

The 717 model is the last commercial airplane produced in the Southern California factory. More than 15,000 airplanes have been produced in Long Beach since the plant opened in 1941.

Airbus launches first ever Airbus-380 Flight

APRIL 27, 2005, this is a date shure to go down in history for airbus as it is
a major move for airbus to introduce this meaga A-380, many say it was a move they may later regret in the future due to the increase demand for smaller aircraft such as the 737 and A320 one-isle jets. But I think otherwise, this dream jet is just what we have been waiting for, a increase in population and dwindling pilot numbers scene 9-11 means we need bigger jets, A Arcraft that can hold around 800 people means less overcrowded air traffic and airport gate fees.  Beleive it or not this beauty of a plane is more fuel efficient than your car, witch is a big + to the environment. Many airlines have already booked there order of a A-380 includeing, UPS, QUANTAS, AIR FRANCE, BRITTISH AIRWAYS and others, what happens with this new mega jet only time can tell.
